Wedding Reception in Wisconsin!

Kyle and I flew to Madison on Friday and stayed through Monday for another wedding celebration! My mom and Elroy flew in too, along with Vince and Michell, making for a warm, fun-filled family weekend. Dad and Jan even flew into the twin cities to see Jan's kids Pat and Deanne, and then they all drove out to Madison for the reception itself. Quite the gathering, and we had great hosts too: the Mandlis!

We toured around as a group, eating tasty meals and visiting the local sights, including House on the Rock and Devil's Lake. It was wonderful to experience real fall weather again. I miss the crispness of the air in the north, being in Texas! The reception was great fun and gave me a chance to meet some of the friends and family of the Mandlis that had slipped through the cracks in previous visits. There were photos from the wedding and blessing ceremony posted on the wall, and Kelsey put together footage from the events that played during the reception, as well!

Here are some pictures from the fun weekend:

Headed to Wisconsin for wedding reception!

Kyle and I are in Chicago waiting for our next flight en route to Madison for what will definitely be a lovely wedding reception!
This airport has an "urban garden" that we had to check out when we saw it. Good place to sit and have a snack!

New recipes: pesto chicken bake, quinoa with mango and beans, falafel

Busy stove! The teapot eventually moved to the hallway.
Homemade pesto == amazing
Pesto chicken bake
Quinoa, mango, beans, and a million other things
Kyle and I cooked up a storm Sunday after cleaning the apartment. I made more pumpkin butter. I made a lighter version of pesto using a recipe from America's test kitchen and also substituted sunflower seeds for pine nuts to great success. I hadn't made fresh pesto before. It was so good that I can't imagine going back. I put that on chicken for dinner. We also had a mix of quinoa, mango, black beans, and like 10 other things and it is a great mix with good flavor.

I also got food all packaged up for the week while Kyle made little falafels, which turned out to be really tasty (also ATK).

Beer fest

We went to an Austin beer fest with Andy today and also saw Dave and Kristina there. There were probably too many people there, so lines were long and there wasn't much food either, but we had a good time! I think this was the first time I've been cold outside in Texas, too! It was in the 60s and windy, and I wore pants for the first time in a long time!

It's official!

Now I can prove that I got my degree, and yes Mom, that is the correct degree! :)

First Presidential Debate

When I got back into town on Wednesday evening, Alec and Hadar came over and we all watched the debate together. It was fun as a social activity, but I'm not sure that any of us enjoyed the debate itself that much.

Industrial morning run

Homemade caramel corn with roommates!

I tend to chat a lot with my College Station room mates when I am in town. Last night we had some home made caramel corn and watched cute YouTube videos after catching up!

There's a hole in the ceiling dear Liza

These are pictures my roommate took this weekend looking in my room after the sky fell in.

Operation Falling Sky

A drip in my doorway last Thursday turned into a crack and then a hole which then dumped the attic insulation onto my room in College Station over the weekend. I was in Austin, but luckily my roommates cleaned up and such. This morning the hole was still there but luckily someone was able to come out and tidy up for now. Still more to be done and we can't turn on the AC (since that is the source of the water) but at least it isn't too hot for now.

Texas win: Sunrises

One good thing about Texas is nice sunrises, probably partially due to the flatness and the lack of clouds a lot of the time.

New recipes: Cilantro Quinoa and Stir Fry Beef

Kyle tried out a couple of new recipes last night while I got food packaged up for the week for us to use. Kyle got both recipes from the Healthy America's Test Kitchen website. I don't remember their exact names, but they were essentially quinoa with cilantro and stir fry beef with broccoli. The quinoa was decent, but the stir fry was amazing! I got tupperwares of food together for my time in College Station and Kyle for the week.

Ready for the week! Lots of tupperware for lunches and snacks and there is even some fresh-squeezed OJ!
