Settling back in a little

I got back to Austin Thursday evening and am on Sunday still feeling like I am settling back in. Then tomorrow morning I head to College Station, so nothing tends to last for long right now!

I have been able to get some normal work done again, but I feel really behind on work, even though I was at the workshop for work this week. Travel for work is always like that.

Kyle and I did mostly errands this weekend. I have decided, with Martha urging, to try to set my room up in College Station a little more nicely, so I am trying to find a suitable and comfortable enough but not too expensive bed or futon set up to use instead of an air mattress, and also get some decorations there. We went to Ikea, which always makes us grumpy. We picked up a few things that we needed, but the bed stuff will not fit in our little car.

Today I am making ginger snap cookies for a Christmas cookie exchange tomorrow. I already dropped Kyle off at the airport; he is headed to the Bay area, where I just was, for the American Geophysics Union (AGU) conference. Once he is back, it is almost his birthday, and shortly after that we will be headed to Wisconsin for Christmas! Busy times!

Yesterday, Kyle set up our fake Christmas tree, so we do have a little piece of Christmas here in Austin. It is so weird, though, because it is in the 70s and 80s outside and I am wearing shorts and things just don't seem right.
